ZGF is seeking an Accounting Manager to join our team in our Portland office. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing the GL and financial reporting processes of ZGF and its affiliated entities, providing various types of financial analysis and forecasting, leading audits and managing the tax filings.  The ideal candidate will have prior experience with driving automation and process efficiencies and an interest in new digital tools and methods while having an appreciation for the practices that work well currently.

As an Accounting Manager, you will…

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and reports for the Firm’s management
  • Prepare budget-to-actual variance reporting, analyzing data to provide valuable insights to the management team
  • Actively participate in financial planning (annual income statement budgets and quarterly forecasts), collaborating with relevant teams and integrating your insights into the budgeting process; prepare balance sheet and cash flow forecasts
  • Manage the general ledger and financial reporting process, including month-end and year-end accounting close, addressing challenges and ensuring accurate financial reporting
  • Identify, research, investigate, and problem-solve GL account issues; review reconciliations and amortization schedules
  • Identify process and system infrastructure gaps, proposing and actively assisting with process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy; Assess and implement necessary levels of internal control to eliminate risk exposure
  • Maintain, implement and suggest improvements to accounting system; Actively participate in the upcoming ERP implementation
  • Organize, update, and maintain accounting procedure documentation respective to the applicable areas of responsibility
  • Lead the financial statement and overhead audit process, preparing detailed audit schedules and addressing auditor queries; assist in the preparation of the 401k audit as needed
  • Manage various tax filings, including personal property tax returns, sales tax returns; Canadian GST, supporting schedules and documentation for the CPA firm filing annual partnership income tax returns, and affiliated companies’ tax returns; manage any audits required by the regulatory tax authorities
  • Manage the records for affiliated companies, including the preparation of related tax work papers; oversee the accounting and GL integration of any newly acquired entities.
  • Oversee the monthly reconciliation of intercompany accounts and reporting between the company’s domestic and international entities and other selected accounts as assigned.
  • Review monthly bank reconciliations
  • Review quarterly bank covenant documents
  • Oversee partner payments (payroll/distributions/quarterly tax payments)
  • Assist in general liability and professional liability insurance renewals
  • Manage the process of providing information for the marketing proposals and survey requests
  • Oversee the city, state and international business registration compliance
  • Oversee requests for certificates of insurance
  • Provide timely and accurate accounting information to internal customers on an ad hoc basis
  • Support and manager other ad hoc requests as required

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience including at least 2 years in a managerial role
  • Extensive experience in general accounting procedures and best practices
  • Strong analytical and creative proactive problem-solving skills
  • Highly accurate and organized with the ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously and meeting tight deadlines
  • High degree of dedication to improvement and strong sense of ownership
  • Initiative to implement changes and curiosity to enhance knowledge and skills
  • Team player, with the ability to work independently and willingness to take on challenges in a rapidly growing and dynamic environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to interact effectively with management, team members, peers, and cross-functional teams
  • Good work ethic – timely, reliable attendance, honest, dependable, conscientious, respectful and accountable
  • Previous experience in digital transformations
  • Accounting experience with a global/international company a plus
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in the use of Microsoft Office software tools; Bluebeam
  • Experience with Deltek Vision or Vantagepoint and Microsoft 365/aec360 financial management software very desirable
  • Familiarity with FAR standards a plus

Base Salary Range

$108,000/yr - $127,000/yr
